About Me

Jasmine Chan, Registered Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, AAMFT Clinical Fellow, Psychotherapist.

Counselling has been at the heart of my work since I began working as a social worker in 1999. Originally from Hong Kong, I started out in a school setting and later spent 18 years at a Family Service Centre, where I worked with children, youth, families, and couples through times of transition, struggle, and crisis. Later in my time there, I was promoted to a role supervising social workers.

After relocating to Canada, I continued my work in counselling and psychotherapy. My clinical work is grounded in attachment-based and trauma-informed practice. I pay attention to each person’s emotional experience and attachment needs, and to how these shape the way we understand ourselves and connect with others.

Since 2016, mindfulness has also been an important part of my work. I teach Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and am a Stage 5 teacher with Oxford Mindfulness in the UK. I received mindfulness training from Professor Mark Williams, one of the founders of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Founder of the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation. Mindfulness brings awareness, presence, and compassion into the way we relate to ourselves and our everyday experiences.

I received my Marriage and Family Therapy training in a theological seminary setting, which informs how I approach spirituality and faith in therapy. When clients wish to bring their faith into therapy, I welcome incorporating it into our work.

Alongside my clinical work, I provide clinical supervision for psychotherapists and counsellors. I am a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor Candidate, working under the mentorship of an Approved Supervisor. In this role, I support clinicians in their professional development and ongoing clinical growth.

I offer therapy in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, with a culturally sensitive approach that respects each client’s cultural background and experience.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, and gardening. These simple moments help me slow down, stay grounded, and enjoy the things that matter to me.
